empow(HER) Virtual Physiotherapy

Virtual Physical Therapy to empower young athletes to recover fully and set them up for lifelong health and success in their sport.

Kristin is a Registered Physical Therapist with a special interest in Sports Physical Therapy and Female Athlete Development. After graduating summa cum laude from SUNY Buffalo with a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, where she also played NCAA Division 1 Volleyball, she completed a Master’s degree in Physical Therapy at the University of Toronto.

Kristin has completed both the Advanced Neurofunctional Sports Performance Practitioner and the Main Contemporary Medial Acupuncture programs at McMaster University. She has since returned to the program as a Clinical Instructor. Kristin has also completed a course in Advanced Needling and Soft Tissue Techniques for the Elite Athlete. She has completed advanced training in manual therapy and is continuously striving to advance her knowledge of core recruitment and movement patterning as it relates to rehab, injury prevention and sports performance. She has experience working with professional and semi-professional athletes and has a keen interest in working with athletes to keep them performing well and participating in sport, for life.

Kristin employs a wide range of clinical skills and experiences. She enjoys the creative approach inherent to the Neurofunctional model and enjoys pushing the boundaries of what we believe to be possible with respect to injury rehabilitation and performance optimization.

Kristin’s personal experience with sport includes ballet, soccer, basketball, swimming and elite-level volleyball. She currently enjoys playing squash, skiing, cycling, running, and is always up for an outdoor adventure!

Doris earned a Bachelor degree in Life Sciences from Queen’s University. She went on to receive her Physical Therapy degree, also from Queen’s University, in 2004. Since then, she has completed continuing education in anatomical acupuncture, manual therapy, vestibular rehabilitation, concussion management, management of rheumatic diseases and most recently, pelvic health.

She has a broad range of experience with treating orthopaedic conditions, complex fractures and musculoskeletal and neurological conditions. She especially enjoys working with post-operative conditions, with the goal of returning to active sport. Maintaining pain-free physical activity across the lifespan is important to her, and she enjoys empowering and assisting individuals to get back to doing what they love.

She is an avid hiker and skier (both cross country and downhill) and currently also teaches downhill skiing for Glen Eden’s Ladies Day Program.
